Girls Football Tournament

On the 8th March it was International Women’s Day, we sent some of our girls to a girl’s only tournament at Leasowe Recreation Centre to compete against other schools. They played 1 game against every other team and it was a fantastic tournament and everybody involved played brilliant. Our girls showed excellent maturity and they were amazing representatives of Orrets Meadow. We look forward to many more events and activities promoting girls in sport!

Year 6 Judo 2022-2023

Our brilliant Year 6's took part in Judo lessons with Coach Chris from Wirral Judo Club. They learnt how to land safely, how to pin an opponent, how to be respectful and all types of trips and throws. Every session began with a bow or “Rei” in Japanese to show respect for the Sensei and other children before breaking off into the first task.

After weeks of learning the correct techniques and how to treat the sport and each other respect, it was time for the final battle. A Sumo style tournament utilising everything we had learnt before a winner was crowned and given Chris’ prestigious Black Belt! The children had an amazing time and did exceptionally well

A Huge thank you to Coach Chris and we cannot wait for next year when our next group of year 6’s get their turn to battle it out for the Black belt.

Wirral school named Primary of the Year at annual Merseyside Sporting Awards

A Wirral school has scooped up the title of Primary School of the Year at this year’s Merseyside Sporting Awards held at Aintree Racecourse.

Orrets Meadow Primary School in Moreton won the award on Friday night for their excellent delivery of physical education to their students.

The event was designed to celebrate the county’s sporting talent and the people who make sport and physical activity happen here on Merseyside.

Offering support for children with specific learning difficulties or social communication difficulties Orretts Meadow and PE leader David Saul ensure all children, regardless of disability participate and engage in PE with 91 percent of their pupils taking part in extra-curricular activities.

Head teacher, Carolyn Duncan said: “I am extremely proud of how team Orrets have worked together to achieve this award.

“It recognises the endless enthusiasm and hard work of the pupils, staff and parents over the last few years and how committed we are at making a difference with the PE Premium funding. This award is the icing on the cake!

“This award shows the difference Orrets are making to pupils’ physical and mental wellbeing. The children are fantastic and so enthusiastic - they engage in everything we offer.”
