Tiger Class - Mrs Tunna

Welcome to TIGER CLASS

Our Class  Teacher  is Mrs Tunna.

Our Classroom Assistants are Mrs Wynne and Mrs Bridson.

A big welcome back to all the children in Tiger class as we start a new term.

I would like to say that we have made a good start to the Spring term. All children in Tiger class  have settled in to their school routine once again.

This term we have lots of exciting subjects for the children to participate in.

SPRING TERM

This term's curriculum and content:

English:

Adventure stories

Exploring familiar stories and some not so familiar stories.

Exploring  story structure and characters.

We will continue to focus on sentence structure, reading for meaning and act out scenes to enable the children to fully appreciate the meanings that lie within these tales.  The ability to work with a partner or group is important in our class. It helps to build up the confidence of the children and enables them to get to know their new class mates.

We will be looking at dilemmas in Adventure Stories and how they have been solved.

We will be working on creating out own Adventure stories.

Maths:

Number: We are starting the term off with multiplication and the steps that we need to take to help us to be more confident and able to solve problems.

We practise our multiplication tables daily and this is done through fun songs that have catchy tunes.

Science:

Our Science this year is incorporated into our afternoon Topic but also we have a focus week, which will enable the children to explore scientific experiments further.

We will be starting off our Science this term with:

Light Investigations.

Carrying out a fair test is important. Recording results accurately.

 Topic:

Our  Topic theme for this term is based on Religious beliefs and exploring the way people worship.

(incorporating Art and Design and Technology)

Also there will be a focus on History and Geography.

This topic also explores PSHE but these subjects will also be taught during focus weeks to ensure depth of coverage.

Computing:

E Safety

Multimedia

Coding

P.E:

Dance

The Tigers are currently working on their skills.   They are exploring how to enhance their performance by tackling activities in different ways. They will be given pointers on how to build on their skills as we move through our sessions.

As part of our Mind Friendly ethos within the school, the children also participate in Yoga activities this term. This has proved to be very beneficial, as the children come away relaxed and ready to take on board their next lessons.

I am very proud of how Tigers have settled in and maintained their focus on the tasks that they have completed.
