Welcome to Class 4!!
We are a vibrant and mature class of 10 pupils. We have a mixture of year 4 and year 5 pupils. Our class teachers are Mr Ferris, Mrs Nicholls, Mrs Doyle and Miss Deer. We work very hard in class 4, but we enjoy learning and are always eager to rise to a challenge.
Each morning we follow a multi-sensory programme for phonics. We split into groups to help with recognition, sounds, handwriting and the fine and gross motors skills required to write comfortably.
In English we cover a wide range of topics that we enjoy. Our topics for the Summer term are Chocolate and Superheroes. We have started by looking at Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory and we will read My Brother is a Superhero in the final half term. During English we strive to improve our handwriting, sentence structures and styles of writing. We are proud of our own and others achievements so far.
In Maths we use a lot of different techniques to help us excel. We use concrete resources such as base ten and numicon. We are continuing to develop our arithmetic by looking closely at the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). along with these have have begun to develop our reasoning skills.
In the afternoons we follow a creative curriculum, some of the topics we will cover this year are Dinosaurs, Stone Age and the Wonders of the Wirral. We haver started to look at Our Summer topic of The Wonders of the Wirral. We will be focusing on Moreton and Hoylake. We started our topic by looking at Leasowe Lighthouse and learning a little bit about the history of it.
As well as our topic our creative curriculum also includes music lessons, Mr Ferris is going to teach us to play the recorders. In computing we are learning about e-safety to make sure that we are able to access the internet in a safe and secure way. This term we will focus on using a range of programming software such as power purple mash, scratch and espresso coding.
In class 4 we follow our Orrets behaviour system, but we are all really well behaved.
We are continuing our Military education sessions this half term and have four weeks of learning about first aid with the help of St John's ambulance.
